Westchester receives face shield donations from Con Ed; Latimer says COVID-19 cases remain flat

Notes from County Executive George Latimer's briefing:
  • Latimer is with representatives from Con Edison, who will be donating 40,000 face shields to medical workers.
  • The shields were manufactured in a converted Con Edison machine shop in the Bronx.
  • There were 1,129 hospitalizations on Wednesday. It remained basically unchanged (1,1190 on Thursday. Latimer says the numbers continue to stay flat.
  • Latimer says he doesn't yet have the number of deaths from Thursday. He says residents can refer to the state's COVID-19 tracker.
  • County Executive Latimer announces new walk-up testing sites. The first state-run walk-up sites are at St. John's Riverside Hospital ParkCare Pavilion in Yonkers and at the Mount Vernon Neighborhood Health Center on 4th Street.
