Communities across Westchester and the Hudson Valley gathered at vigils Monday to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the start of America's war in Iraq.

Emotions ran high at a demonstration on the corner of Main Street and Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains. More than 40 residents, including young children and World War II veterans, spoke out against the war. They lit candles in honor of the 3,200 soldiers that have died in combat and the 23,000 injured.

Despite a growing dissatisfaction with the war among the public, President Bush remained optimistic Monday. Bush said, "the new strategy will need more time to take effect and there will be good days and there will be bad days."
