Westchester holds 9/11 remembrance ceremony
Westchester County held "The Rising" remembrance ceremony Friday to pay tribute to residents who died on Sept. 11.
County Executive Andy Spano laid a wreath in honor of the 111 Westchester residents who lost their lives eight years ago.
Awards were also handed out to five local volunteers who have gone out of their way to help their communities. World War II veteran Richard Moore, of Yonkers, was among the honorees for his 50 years of service to fellow veterans.
County officials say the service awards will be given out every year on Sept. 11.
