A 10-year-old girl from Westchester is one of nine girls that appear in a music video celebrating "International Day of the Girl" – backed by Beyonce's song "Freedom."
Delanee Kilgore, of Shrub Oak, traveled to Africa to dance in the video. She was able to beat out hundreds of other girls who auditioned to be in the video that has been seen nearly 3 million times on YouTube.
"Honestly, it was amazing…Seeing these children in another culture just makes my happy tank fill up and makes me cry," Kilgore told News 12.
The song and video centers around women's empowerment. Her teachers at Ben Franklin Elementary School say they are proud of Kilgore and hope the video will help spread the message of gender equality.
