With another snowstorm rumbling toward Westchester and the Hudson Valley, Ossining highway workers spent Tuesday preparing their plowing equipment and rock salt.
Ossining Highway Superintendent Michael O'Connor says he is concerned because the cost of salt has increased 20 percent this year, and the town?s supply had been significantly depleted after several recent ice storms.
?We're approaching 60 percent of our allocated funds for salt, which means we're going to rob from Peter to pay Paul in the budget as we go along, should this continue,? O?Conner says.
News 12 meteorologists say light snow will develop very early Wednesday morning and could be heavy at times through 7 a.m. The snow is expected to mix and change to rain during the Wednesday morning commute.
Parts of the area could see snow accumulations between 2-8 inches before the rain arrives. The rain will be heavy at times throughout Wednesday evening. Minor flooding could occur.
Drivers are urged to use caution when out on the roads Wednesday.
