Westchester Dept. of Public Works foreman dies on the job
Workers at a Westchester County Department of Public Works garage are in mourning Wednesday after their long time friend and colleague died on the job.
Workers at the Lake Street Public Works garage had been battling the snow and ice storm for several hours overnight when they received the tragic news. Garage foreman, 62-year-old William White, died from what the county police say was an apparent heart attack. Police say White collapsed while supervising snow removal efforts at around 6:30 a.m. Efforts by co-workers to revive him were unsuccessful.
White, who lived in White Plains, had a history of heart disease and was fitted with a pacemaker. With more than 40 years on the job, White could have retired but his colleagues say he didn?t want to because he loved what he did.
