The Westchester district attorney and the FBI indicted 32 members, including the acting boss of the reputed Genovese crime family Thursday.
For the past three and a half years, the FBI has been working to crack down on the organized crime family. Westchester District Attorney Janet DiFiore says the defendants were indicted for murder, racketeering, firearms and narcotics trafficking within the county. The indictment claims it was Genovese's large-scale cocaine distribution network that hit Westchester.
The FBI says acting boss Liborio S. Bellomo was sending messages from his jail cell to his associates through his lawyer.
