The Westchester County Courthouse and adjoining White Plains Public Library building have been evacuated Monday while police investigate a suspicious package found in a stairwell.

Police say the package was seen in the stairwell that leads to the plaza next to the library. The evacuation began shortly after 10 a.m.White Plains police deputy police Commissioner Daniel Jackson says the Westchester County Bomb Squad is on the scene.
