The Westchester County police executed its largest illegal vape bust in cooperation with the Greenburgh Drug and Alcohol Task Force.
County Executive George Latimer confirmed that all seized products were confiscated during the operation, with an unnamed operator issued a ticket and scheduled for a hearing.
"We don't accept that on the side you're going to tolerate doing these things," said Latimer. "We want to deal with them straight forward and make sure that we're protecting our young people."
The bust is part of the Adolescent Tobacco Use Prevention Act, leading to over 70 inspections of licensed facilities within the last two months, the majority of which were found to be compliant. However, authorities have seized hundreds of illegal flavored vape tobacco products.
The repercussions for non-compliance involve substantial fines and the potential revocation of licenses to sell tobacco products.
Data from the Federal Drug Administration's (FDA) annual national youth tobacco survey released late last year found more than three million middle and high school students use some type of tobacco.
