A 5-year-old was transported to the hospital after he experienced a medical episode at Rye Playland Thursday afternoon, according to Westchester County police.

Detectives say they received a report of the child having a medical episode, possibly a seizure, in the amusement park's swimming pool shortly after 2:30 p.m.

The boy was swimming in the pool and was removed to the pool deck as park rangers and police arrived at the scene.

First responders administred CPR on the boy before taking him to the hospital, according to a Playland spokesperson.

Westchester County police say he was taken to Greenwhich Hospital and will be transferred to Westchester Medical Center.

It was not immediately clear what caused the boy to experience the medical episode.

The spokesperson said in the statement that the park is working closely with Westchester County officials.
