Westchester County Executive George Latimer holds COVID-19 briefing
Westchester County Executive George Latimer provided a coronavirus update Monday.
Latimer says 59,462 people have been tested and 19,786 have tested positive. He says the good news is that the number of active cases has lessened each of the past six days as many people have gotten better. He says there is now 10,460 active cases, and 1,194 people are hospitalized.
He says there has been 557 deaths so far in the county. He says 2.8% of the people who have tested positive have died. He says two-thirds of the people who have died are 65 years or older.
He thinks the curve is being flattened, but needs another week of data to be sure.
Latimer says that severe weather has shut down testing at Glen Island Park in New Rochelle and Westchester Medical Center, so Tuesday’s numbers will be skewed due to reduced testing.
Latimer says he will give an update Wednesday to Westchester’s response to the federal government’s Small Business Loan Program.
