After 22 years as a correction officer - the last six in Westchester - Brooke Jones says she is ready to take her love of helping people to another level.
She's running to become 1st vice president of the Westchester Corrections Officer's Benevolent Association.
If elected, she would make history as not only the first female, but also the first African American female to hold the COBA position.
Jones says she was inspired by Vice President-elect Kamala Harris' recent election.
The union has more than 700 members. Hones says she's already been a strong advocate for officers working outside of the union.
She is facing two opponents in her bid to make history when union members vote on Dec. 10.
