Officials say 57-year-old Robert Schnibbe Jr. collapsed at the scene of a house fire he was coordinating in Irvington Friday night. He was taken to Dobbs Ferry Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The exact cause of death has not yet been determined.
Schnibbe had led the Hastings-on-Hudson Fire Department as chief for 20 years and was appointed Westchester County Battalion Fire Chief in 2003.
