The storm that was expected to be the first major winter blast of 2008 for Westchester was a big bust.

Due to warmer temperatures and a storm that was weaker than anticipated, snowfall totals were significantly less than the up to 8 inches that was predicted. Scattered flurries and rain were still expected for parts of Monday.

Road crews said they dodged a major bullet when only 1 to 3 inches of snow fell across the region. Many residents went about their usual day, running errands and traveling on roadways.

"I'm happy. I'm in construction so this weather destroys me," said Yorktown resident Richie Giannasca.

Dozens of Westchester schools delayed openings due to the storm and a handful of schools were closed for the day.
