Westchester lawmakers fuming over outages when the remnants of a tropical storm blew through the area will have their chance to vent in Albany Monday.

Tropical Storm Ernesto left many homes in the dark in September 2006, inconveniencing residents such as Linda and Martin Halpern. The Halperns live on Patton Drive in Yonkers. They say they went without electricity for almost a week. The outages revealed widespread problems with Con Edison's infrastructure and communications. The utility company promised to improve, but said it did everything it could under the circumstances. Con Edison has also hired an independent consultant to assess its problems.

Assemblyman Richard Brodsky (D-Westchester) and Assemblyman Adam Bradley (D-White Plains) say that's not enough. The state lawmakers will meet with members of the Public Service Commission to voice their concerns. They want to ensure Con Edison is held accountable for the costly, prolonged blackout.
