Water main bursts at busy Yonkers intersection
Officials say a water main burst overnight in Yonkers, leaving one of the city's busiest roadways flooded Thursday morning.
That water main break happened at about 2 a.m. when thousands of gallons of water flooded the normally busy intersection of Tuckahoe and Grassy Sprain roads, Department of Public Works officials say.
Officials explain that the valve was old and simply gave way. The water, which is running again, is safe to drink but DPW officials say residents may experience some discoloration as crews finish repairs.
Officials advise residents to let the water run a bit before drinking it.
