Friends and family gathered Monday to remember the Westchester man who founded the popular Golden Krust bakery chain.
A wake for Lowell Hawthorne was held at the Grace Baptist Church in Mount Vernon.
Authorities say Hawthorne was found dead in his Bronx factory earlier this month from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Hawthorne recently moved to White Plains after living in Elmsford for many years. His funeral will be held Tuesday in Brooklyn.
