With turnout on Election Day being described as "very high," some Mount Vernon voters say they were frustrated by a mechanical problem at their polling place.
Some voters arrived at the polling place on East Sidney Avenue at 5:15 a.m. to be in line when doors opened 45 minutes later. They say about six people were able to vote before the lone voting machine broke down.
A deputy clerk at Mount Vernon City Hall says a mechanical problem caused the malfunction, which was later fixed. Voters were given paper ballots to fill out while the problem was fixed.
