Volunteers in Orange County are preparing for a solemn holiday tribute at the county's Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In an incredibly touching display and effort, staff and volunteers are getting ready to place 3,000 wreaths on veterans' graves.
The wreaths were donated by "Wreaths Across America," a national organization that provides the holiday decoration to veteran cemeteries each year. They're handmade by volunteers around the country and were shipped Thursday to the Orange County Memorial Cemetery in Goshen where they'll be placed Saturday, by both adult and children volunteers, onto gravesites. "The way that Wreaths Across America puts it is, every person dies twice. They die the last time they take a breath and they die the last time their name is spoken. Our idea is to never let that happen," says Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery Supt. David Andryshak.
This is the first year volunteers are doing this, and News 12 is told hundreds of volunteers will be here for the ceremony tomorrow at noon.
