The Village of Sleepy Hollow Board of Trustees voted 4-2 Tuesday to allow thin red and blue line flags to fly on firetrucks once again.
The move reverses a decision by Board of Trustees last summer, which banned the display of unauthorized flags and symbols.
Fire officials say the flags are meant to represent the firefighters and police officers who pay the ultimate sacrifice on the job.
Some associate the flag as a political symbol and as part of the blue lives matter movement.
The Sleepy Hollow fire chief said he's pleased the department got the support of four board members.
