The Village of Pleasantville is replacing its holiday tree after years of declining health for the local landmark on Manville Road and Edgewood Avenue.
The village arborist says the root system on the Norway spruce is beyond recovery.
"Our team from public works is going to go with an arborist and visit those nurseries and take a look and see who has the best tree and what is best-suited here," says Mayor Peter Scherer.
A replanting ceremony will be held for the new tree later this summer or early fall.
