The Village of Haverstraw is planning to build a free outdoor fitness facility for the public, but needs funds to do so.

Village Officials say before the Haverstraw Fitness Court opens, they need an additional $70,000. State officials say they already secured $100,000 in funding to push them closer to their goal.

Once the funds are received, authorities expect it to take a couple of weeks to complete.

Mayor Michael Kohut tells News 12 that he envisions “athletic fields where people use it year-round.”
