Family and friends came together at the Ossining waterfront Sunday night to remember the young mother who was killed in a crash by an alleged drunk driver in Peekskill.
Mourners released hundreds of balloons into the night sky at Lois Engel Park.
The crowd of friends, co-workers and family members were gathering in memory of 32-year-old Shina McClam, who was killed in a wrong-way crash on Dec. 23.
Those who knew her described the young mother as a happy person who was always smiling.
On the night of the crash, McClam's 6-year-old daughter and 18-year-old niece were also in the car, and were seriously injured.
Police say their vehicle was hit by 41-year-old Mark Cope, of Yorktown, who was allegedly driving drunk.
He is charged with vehicular manslaughter and is scheduled to appear in Peekskill city court on Tuesday.
