Jim and Susan Kowalczik operate the Orphaned Wildlife Center from their home in Otisville, where they rehab over a dozen bears who wouldn't survive if left alone in the wilderness.
The Kowalcziks have been interacting with wildlife for nearly 30 years and are licensed through the DEC and USDA.
Weighing in at 1,500 pounds and standing 9 feet tall, Jimbo is a Kodiak bear at the Orphaned Wildlife Center. He and his siblings expect daily playtime with Jim and Susan.
"We've had them since they were young babies, and you actually become their parents," says Jim Kowalczik. "We raised them, we didn't ask anything of them, they just do whatever they want to do."
