Vanderhoef, Kleiner in final stretch of campaign
With Election Day only a week away, the fight for Rockland County executive is heating up between longtime Republican incumbent Scott Vanderhoef and Deomocratic Orangetown Supervisor Thom Kleiner.
Vanderhoef took to the streets Sunday in a campaign trolley that made stops across the county with dozens of supporters in tow. Meanwhile, Kleiner greeted residents at the Congers Italian Festival.
Both spent time encouraging voters to get to the polls and talking about issues surrounding the election. Kleiner vowed to pull Rockland out of its financial trouble, while Vanderhoef maintained that his leadership and expertise were needed amid the recession.
