The controversy surrounding the word ?vagina? at John Jay High School in Cross River brought star-studded attention and a possible change in school policies.
The suspension for three girls who used the word ?vagina? during a school performance has been lifted. That was the major topic at Tuesday night's board of education meeting. John Jay graduate and actor/director Stanley Tucci was at the meeting and weighed in about the debate. Tucci says he cannot understand why it?s bad to use the word ?vagina.?
The students appeared on the ?Today? show with ?The Vagina Monologues? author Eve Ensler and school board president Peter Breslin. Breslin says he received thousands of e-mails and calls from all over the globe supporting the students? actions. Board of education members say it will be several weeks before new policies on student performances are put in place.
