The pastors of the United Black Clergy joined residents during the rally to take a knee for 8 minutes and 46 seconds to represent the amount of time it took for the Minneapolis police officer accused of killing Floyd to keep his knee pressed on him.

A group of pastors from a Mount Vernon church took a knee for nearly nine minutes during a protest in memory of George Floyd.
The pastors of the United Black Clergy joined residents during the rally to take a knee for 8 minutes and 46 seconds to represent the amount of time it took for the Minneapolis police officer accused of killing Floyd to keep his knee pressed on him.
Floyd's death was captured on video and sparked worldwide protests and a demand for African Americans to be treated fairly.
Religious leaders in Mount Vernon say they bring a level of spirit and wisdom to help guide protesters through the movement - all which have remained peaceful since they began.
Another protest is set to happen today in Brewster. Village police in Brewster are working with protesters to make sure that it remains peaceful.
