The national unemployment rate dropped to 8.4%, with 1.37 million jobs added in the month of August despite concerns over slowdowns.
This has calmed concerns that jobs were being added too slow of a pace and reassured that jobs will rebound better than expected.
However, this calls into question if this will have an impact on another possible stimulus package in that lower expectations would possibly put additional pressure for it.
When it comes to the state, 63,932 New Yorkers filed for unemployment the week ending on Aug. 29. That number went up from 63,526.
In the Hudson Valley, 5,858 residents filed for unemployment the week ending on Aug. 29, but that number was down from 6,001 a week earlier.
