An Ulster County man is facing charges for allegedly assaulting someone with a hammer to the head on New Year's Eve.
Police said they received a call Friday reporting a man on the ground bleeding from the head in the Town of Rochester.
Investigators say the man was conscious and told them he was hit in the head with a hammer by 40-year-old Michael Latimore, from Olivebridge.
Latimore was charged with assault with intent to murder.
He is expected to face a judge on Wednesday.
