TZB retaining wall comes down
Another phase of construction for the new Tappan Zee Bridge began today in Rockland.
Crews began tearing down a retaining wall between the New York State Thruway and the parking lot of the Eagle Rock apartments on Piermont Avenue.
The purpose of demolishing the retaining wall is to make way for a new noise barrier designed to make for quieter living.
A temporary noise-reducing fence and concrete barrier is being installed as the demolition occurs.
Crews say it is a lengthy project that will take several months to complete.
