A Turn To Tara investigation has discovered that claims for tire reimbursement from the county have gone ignored for years in Westchester.
Those who drive over a bumpy county road and blow out a tire are supposed to be reimbursed for repairs by the county.
News 12 has uncovered data that shows in 2018, there were 34 pothole claims made in Westchester – and none of the claims were paid out.
In 2016 and 2017, there were 25 claims, but those claims weren’t paid either.
Deputy County Executive Ken Jenkins is vowing to help the situation after he says the previous administration failed to do so.
“It’s the first time I am personally hearing of that, but it’s another clear example of lack of focus on the everyday needs of the people of Westchester that was happening. We are going to try to right that ship,” he says.
Jenkins say an investigation into what went wrong will begin this week.
