Tuckahoe bill aims to reign in sex offenders
Tuckahoe Mayor John Fitzpatrick is proposing to keep registered level 2 and level 3 sex offenders from living within 1,000 feet of any park or playground in the village. Fitzpatrick said he has been working on the law for a year. ?We wanted to put in a reasonable law to protect the people that are most vulnerable here," he said.
The bill would also impose a $2,500-a-day penalty for both sex offenders and landlords that don?t comply.
In the coming months, the public will have an opportunity to voice their opinions on the proposal before the board of trustees votes in September. If the proposal passes, it would be the first such law in Westchester.
