Trump says he won’t close the country if another coronavirus wave hits
Despite warnings from the CDC about a second wave of infections, President Donald Trump says he won't shut down the country again.
On Thursday, he told reporters in Michigan "We're not going to close the country" even as 25,000 new infections were reported.  "Now I want it open and we're gonna open. And if there's a fire, an ember of flame someplace, we put it out."
The Washington Post reports there is specific concern about Dallas, Houston, Southeast Florida and the entire state of Alabama, which are in danger of a second wave over the next four weeks.
Dr. Anthony Fauci is urging officials to be on alert. "Because as you open up, even under normal circumstances, in the best of circumstances, you are going to see infections. The critical issue for a successful opening is how effectively you address those blips."
In Alabama, Montgomery's mayor said his city is already out of ICU beds.
