Troopers rescue dog from icy water
A Greenville dog is safe and warm after plunging into frigid waters this week.
Tyler Ford was out walking his German shepherd "Whitey," when the dog, who wasn't on a leash, bolted. He ran onto a partially frozen-over pond and fell through the ice.
State troopers arrived and found a nearby shed with a canoe inside, which they used to break through the ice, allowing Whitey to swim to shore.
Ford tells News 12 he's learned his lesson and will be keeping his best friend firmly on a leash from now on. "I don't know what I'd do without him, he's my buddy," says Ford.
