A man suspected of fatally beating his girlfriend with a baseball bat appeared in court for four minutes Monday after suffering an anxiety attack.State police say Robert Sepe suffered the anxiety attack on the way to Town of Cortlandt Court, leading to him being taken to Westchester Medical Center. Sepe was released from the hospital after 11 a.m. and was taken to the courthouse.

Detectives believe Sepe and his girlfriend, Janette Carlucci, had a domestic dispute Friday that ended with Sepe viciously beating her with the bat. Her body was unidentifiable, leading authorities to await confirmation on her identity from dental records or DNA tests.

State police say Sepe was apprehended Saturday upstate in Windsor as he attempted to jump off a bridge.Sepe, who faces a second-degree murder charge in his girlfriend's death, is separated from his wife. The married couple owns a Croton-on-Hudson vitamin distribution company called Healthy and Fit International.

Troopers say they are now investigating whether "steroids rage" played a role in the attack.

Sepe's lawyer remains tight-lipped about the case. His client is not expected to enter a plea until the case is transferred to county court. That will likely happen after his next court appearance in Cortlandt on April 7.
