Travelers face increased security on air, rail and roads
Recent terror plots prompted extra security at the Westchester County Airport and other locations for the Fourth of July holiday.
County cops were inside and outside the airport. Part of the security detail included checking every car that entered, including vehicle trunks. Travelers said the extra precautions made them feel safer.
The security comes in the wake of foiled terror plots in London and Glasgow last week. In London, two cars were found packed with explosives. A day later, a flaming SUV was driven into an airport in Glasgow.
Security in the U.S. has been raised at all major landmarks and on Metro-North trains. Specially trained anti-terror police, federal Homeland Security agents and National Guard soldiers are on patrol at Grand Central.
Travelers are advised to give themselves extra time to get to their destinations during the holiday.
