Transformer explosion causes blackout
All power is now restored after a brief blackout in parts of New Rochelle.
The fire department received calls just after 11 p.m. yesterday about wires sparking and a transformer explosion in the area of Eastchester Road and Pershing Avenue.
When crews arrived, they found that a tree branch had fallen on electrical wires, knocking out power to over 600 customers.
It took Con Edison about an hour to get the power up and running.
