Tragedy strikes again for 9/11 victim's family
A New Windsor woman who lost her fiancé on Sept. 11, 2001 had to bury her 8-year-old daughter Saturday after she was killed by an alleged drunken driver.
Dozens of family and friends of Bryanna Holland gathered at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newburgh to remember and grieve a life cut tragically short. Holland?s mother, Cassandra Brown, nearly collapsed as she tried to speak through the pain at the funeral.
Holland died Tuesday while in the backseat of her mother's car after another vehicle smashed into them just minutes from their home. Brown was hospitalized with minor injuries. Police say speed and alcohol are possibly to blame. The man who hit them, Francis Circosta, was flown to Westchester Medical Center with a serious head trauma and remains in a coma. Police say if Circosta recovers, he will probably face drunken driving charges.
No stranger to tragedy, Brown is struggling with tremendous grief. Friends say the two became inseparable after Bryanna's father was killed in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11.
