? A traffic stop ended up being one of Harrison?s largest drug busts in history when officers found 500 grams of pure heroin Thursday.
Authorities say an officer pulled over a vehicle carrying six men at the intersection of Westchester Avenue and Kennelworth Road. The officer searched the vehicle after finding the driver?s license was suspended. Police estimate the heroin would be worth $100,000 on the streets. Cops say the bust is a morale boost in the war on drugs, which police often feel they are losing.
Officers say 47-year-old Santo Araujo of Boston and 43-year-old Louis Rivera of the Bronx claimed ownership of the drugs. The suspects are charged with first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. The four other men in the vehicle have not been charged.
