Traffic stalled after truck hits Hutch
Both sides of the Hutchinson River Parkway were shut down Tuesday morning after a truck slammed into an overpass, spilling a payload of onions over the roadway.
Authorities say the accident happened at about 6:30 a.m. on the northbound side of the parkway at the King Street overpass in Rye Brook.
In addition to pieces of the rig that were strewn on the roadway, workers had to unload what was left of the 4,500 pounds of onions on board the truck. Authorities say the trucker, who is from New Jersey and said his GPS device led him astray, was headed to Connecticut.
