The morning commute came to a crawl Friday after a tractor-trailer had its roof torn off when it made its way onto the Saw Mill River Parkway in Pleasantville.
Police say the driver of the tractor-trailer was heading to Connecticut from Maryland, got lost and ended up on the parkway. Police say sparks were flying after the driver went under the Bedford Road Bridge, ripping off the top and back of the trailer. Crews had to be brought in to put the trailer back together before the rig could be lowered by a crane onto a flatbed truck. The northbound side of the parkway was closed for three hours while the wreckage was cleared.
The driver was not injured, but received a number of tickets since commercial vehicles are not allowed on the Saw Mill River Parkway.
