The number 2 train bypassed the Jackson Avenue stop in both directions Monday after a fire damaged the tracks a day before.
According to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, flames broke out inside a utility closet at the Jackson Avenue station Sunday afternoon. Police say there were no injuries, though the damage to the tracks forced the MTA to suspend service.
Commuters took shuttle buses from 149th Street to their destinations. Many straphangers say the suspension inconvenienced them and made them late for work.
Residents say the 2 train in particular is known for service suspensions.
