Residents in Tenafly are fighting to bring back a landmark movie theater that's been in town for almost a century.
The Bow Tie Cinema on Railroad Avenue closed last week.
The owner made the decision after the building was nominated as a historic landmark.
The designation would mean the theater could not be renovated in the future.
Officials argue preserving the building would keep the downtown area more appealing to visitors, but the owner says he won't reopen the theater unless the borough votes against the designation.
