The town of Ramapo is moving to shut down a private school in Monsey after multiple violations were discovered.
Congregation Bais Chinuch Ateres Bnos could be shut down as soon as Thursday. It is currently open as a summer camp.
Fire inspectors visited the school on Route 306 and said they found things like milk crates stacked up to hold up an air conditioning unit. Officials snapped photos of holes in walls, broken desks and blocked exits.
Inspectors also found overcrowding in classrooms and determined the private school unsafe. They say the school is putting the more than 300 girls attending camp there in imminent danger.
The school also continues to operate with a failed inspection and no certificate of occupancy.
On Wednesday, the town filed a temporary restraining order to have a judge shut them down.
If a judge signs it, the school will be forced to close immediately.
