5ds agoA bill aimed at protecting toll payers in New York is heading to the governor’s desk after it was approved in the state Assembly and Senate.
The Toll Payer Protection Act, introduced by state Sen. David Carlucci and Assemblyman Thomas Abinanti, requires tolling authorities to make sure drivers receive their bills within 30 days. It also prohibits registration suspension for unpaid tolls.
“Now that cashless tolling is going to be expanded around New York state, these safeguards of the Toll Payer Protection Act are vital," said Sen. Carlucci.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo has until the end of the year to make a decision. Sen. Carlucci says he's confident he will sign the bill into law.
