Experts are offering tips for spotting school-related stress in kids as they adjust to a new way of learning.
Parents should be on the lookout if their child tries to avoid schoolword or procrastinates on getting projects done.
Experts say some kids may complain of a headache or stomachache close to school time. Also look for distinct changes in mood or behavior, or eating or sleeping patterns.
Licensed therapist Jody Baumstein says parents should ask open ended questions. She says instead of saying is school making you anxious or stressed, parents shold say how do you feel about school.
Doctors say this gives parents the chance to talk to their kids about problem solving and teach them how to cope with stress.
