The city that never sleeps went dark for one minute Wednesday night.
Signs and billboards in Times Square went out at 9 p.m. last night.
It was part of an effort to call on insurance companies to pay claims to businesses that have suffered interruptions due to COVID-19. It includes restaurants, hospitality businesses and non-profits.
The groups behind the effort say the blackout represents that insurers are "turning the lights out on businesses."
