According to police, a 9-inch ceramic baby Jesus was stolen from a crèche outside the James Daly VFW post sometime after 9:30 pm. Thursday. The nativity scene is sponsored by local churches. One priest said he hoped that whoever took the statue will be ?blessed by the presence? of the figure and return it.
Police say vandals struck again on Saturday at a home on High Street. They say statues of a sheep, a donkey and a wise man were stolen from a nativity scene on the front lawn. Police are not sure if the two crimes are related. A statue of the baby Jesus was also stolen from a nativity scene in Nyack's Veteran's Park for the third time in four years. The Knights of Columbus, which put on the display, put a note in the manger asking for the statue to be returned.
