A family from Rye is in mourning Tuesday after a 10-year-old boy died after being struck by a car.
Jarrid Amico was a fifth-grader at the Midland Elementary School. Amico?s father says his son was riding his bicycle on Midland Avenue Monday around 5 p.m. when he suddenly darted out in the street and was hit by a van. The father says he had complained to the police department just last week about speeding on Midland Avenue in front of his house.
Meantime, school officials say they will have counselors and support staff on hand to speak with students about the tragedy.
