Teenager shot in Harriman
A teenager is recovering after being shot in the back in Harriman Tuesday night.
Orange County police say the shooting happened at around 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Quick Stop convenience store on River Road.
Witnesses say Aron Weiss, 18, of Kiryas Joel, is a student at an area yeshiva. They tell News 12 that Weiss was on his cellphone when the gunman came up behind him and shot him in the back.
Weiss was rushed to Westchester Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening.
So far, police say the incident is not a hate crime and they're looking into whether or not the boy was set up.
"We're still looking into if it was a prearranged meeting or a by-chance incident," says State Police Lt. Brian Webster.
